When Father mysteriously disappears one Christmas, Mother takes Roberta, Peter and Phyllis to live in the country. Discovering a railway near their new house is just the beginning of a series of adventures set over one long summer.
A beautiful rite of passage story, E. Nesbit's novel is one of the most popular children's books in England, and is now a musical for all the family with heartfelt ballads, stirring choral numbers and tuneful melodies.
First produced at Sevenoaks Playhouse for the centenary of the original publication of the book, the musical has had subsequent professional productions on a UK National Tour and at Taunton Brewhouse Theatre.
It has had more than 100 community and amateur productions, including in New Zealand, Canada and the USA.
“A treat for families across generations to enjoy together.” Somerset Live
“Would not look out of place in the West End.” Sevenoaks Chronicle
“Make sure you bring the tissues if you are planning to see The Railway Children… Togetherness, resilience and striving for justice were prominent themes and the show made me understand the importance of spending time with your loved ones over Christmas.” Somerset County Gazette
